Collaboration With German University
Dr Wolgang Veit Professor International
Economics University of Applied Sciences Cologne, West
Germany visited the Kalkaii campus on 2nd Dec 2008.
During discussions with chairman and Dr Satish Seth, Dr
Veit stated that his university was keen to enter into
an academic collaboration with JIMS which would involve
mutual exchange of students for undergoing academic
courses and also exchange of faculty for teaching
purpose. Dr Veit was assured of similar desire on our
part.
Dr Veit was visibly impressed with the
Institute’s infrastructure and facilities including
computer labs library etc.

Obama and India
International lawyer and Obama’s Harvard classmate Dr
Surat Singh spoke on Obama and India on Thursday, 20th
November 2008 at the Jagannath International Management
School (JIMS), Kalkaji, New Delhi.
At the outset, Professor Satish Seth, Director JIMS
introduced Dr Surat Singh, an eminent international
lawyer and jurist, who practises both in Supreme Court
and High Court of Delhi. Dr Surat Singh provided
thoughtful inputs on Obama’s philosophy, his search for
an identity, his personal qualities and his policy
approach towards key issues of relevance to India. Dr
Surat Singh was Barack Obama’s classmate at Harvard Law
School for two years from 1988 to 1990. Currently, he is
the president of the All American Universities Alumni
Association of India and is a former president of the
Harvard Club of India and Asia.

Blood camp
More
than 100 students donated blood for the needy people in
specially organized blood donation camp at JIMS on 3rd
November 2008. Students were motivated by volunteers and
faculty members exploding myths that donation of small
quantity doesn't result in any weakness or after affects
and donated quantity can be utilized if and when needed
by donor or his family members.

3rd Jagannath Gupta
Memorial Lecture
Honorable Chief
Minister of Delhi Smt Sheila Dixit delivered the third
Jagannath Gupta commemorative lecture at Siri Fort
Auditorium on 30th September 2008. The earlier two
lectures were delivered by Shri Abid Hussain and Shri
Soli Sorabjee in 2005 and 2006 respectively. Mrs Dixit
called upon the students from different JIMS campuses
to take full advantage of the JIMS module of alternative
education system based on ideal blending of academia,
vocational training and holistic personality growth. She
narrated her personal experiences to prevail upon
students about the golden opportunities available to
them in present times. She said it is better to be a
good human being than a rich executive. Citing from her
personal roadmap she said focusing on human touch was
essential for any nation building exercise.

Teacher's Day
Teacher's Day was celebrated with
great enthusiasm in our campus of JIMS on September
5,2008. The Director called upon students to take
maximum advantage of the opportunity they have at JIMS
by drawing from the rich experience and wide perspective
of a highly talented faculty.

Hindi Divas
Hindi Divas was celebrated in the second fortnight of
September 2008. Innovative competitions to provide an
opportunity to express themselves in Hindi were
organized. And the students came out with flying colours.
It is impressed upon students that Hindi is the medium
of future in India and without its working knowledge, it
is difficult to excel.

‘Visiting Faculty’
Meet
A visiting faculty meet was held under
chairmanship Of Dr Amit Gupta in main Kalkaji campus on
18th July 2008.The purpose of the meet was to discuss
issue relating to enhancing the quality of teaching and
learning process. The meeting was most successful as
visiting faculty members attended the meet and offered a
variety of suggestions to promote use of innovative
pedagogy, modern deliverymethods, class participation
etc.
